Communication Technology has taught me different aspects of photography such as:
- The rule of thirds:
When taking a picture, do not put the main subject as the dead center of the picture. It is more important to imagine a grid of 3x3 on top of the picture and place the object/subject in off to one side. This creates a more interesting look for the picture.
- Garbage in, Garbage out:
If the picture looks bad when you are taking it, it will look bad all the time no matter how much editting you do. It is better to focus on taking a good picture without editting.
- Focus and Shutter Speed:
The amount of light let into the camera's lens is important because you do not want your picture to be over or under exposed. The focus should be on the subject, not a focussed background and blurry subject.
Photoshop:
- Different tools can remove redeye, fix imperfections, crop the picture to the rule of thirds, etc..
AIDA - When making something such as an ad, you want to make sure that all of the elements of AIDA are there to show the audience that you want their attention.
Using layers, and leading lines, you can draw attention to your main focus.
Communication Technology taught me that there is more to taking professional photos than just "point and shoot".
